Sustainable livestock systems

Research-driven advances in genomic selection will count for little unless they are locally adopted and adapted by livestock breeders and producers.

In parallel with CTLGH’s joint programs and projects, affiliated researchers are studying animal husbandry practices, farmer-preferred traits and overall profitability models in tropical livestock systems, in order to understand what gaps in knowledge and infrastructure need to be closed before our vision of Improved livestock-based livelihoods in the tropics can be realised.
