Roslin Institute Extends Literary Support to NAL

Authors: Olaoye Oyewole & Abiodun Babatunde

The Centre for Tropical Livestock Genetics and Health at Roslin Institute, University of Edinburgh, Scotland, United Kingdom, has graciously donated three cartons of valuable research books to the Nimbe Adedipe Library (NAL), Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), in a generous gesture.

During the presentation ceremony, Dr. Mathew Wheto, a representative of the Institute at FUNAAB and a Lecturer in the Department of Animal Breeding and Genetics (ABG), College of Animal Science and Livestock Production (COLANIM), expressed gratitude for the enduring partnership between Roslin Institute and FUNAAB.

Dr. Wheto stated that the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed over four years ago has greatly facilitated collaborative efforts in research, learning, and the development of FUNAAB’s University Alpha Chickens programme, which has demonstrated promising results.

Dr. Wheto further emphasised Roslin Institute’s ongoing support, including technical, financial, and experiential assistance extended to researchers from FUNAAB. Notably, he mentioned the recent visit of a PhD student from FUNAAB to Roslin Institute, underscoring the reciprocal nature of the collaboration.

In a gracious acceptance of the donation, the University Librarian, Dr. Abayomi Owolabi, who was represented by the Readers’ Services Librarian, Dr. Idayat Agboola, expressed heartfelt appreciation to Roslin Institute for their thoughtful contribution.

The University Librarian said that the donation underscored the vital role of books in academic and research endeavours, affirming the University Management’s commitment to ensuring the accessibility of these resources to students and researchers alike.

Dr. Owolabi assured that the donated books would be meticulously catalogued and readily available to enrich the academic pursuits of the University Community, thereby further enhancing the scholarly landscape at FUNAAB.
