Facilitating training and collaboration
Anyone with an interest in genomics, bioinformatics, Artificial Intelligence, DSI, policy, molecular biology, biodiversity conservation and related fields is invited to attend.
The first two days are symposium-style hybrid workshops and congress respectively.
Days 3 to 5 are practical-based, hands-on in-person workshops focusing on sample collections, bioinformatics, Artificial Intelligence applied to biology, molecular biology and genome sequencing using several technology platforms but not limited to PacBio Hi-Fi, Illumina, Thermo Fisher Scientific, Oxford Nanopore Technologies, and MGI-Tech.
Keynote Address (Day 1):
Professor Mizeck Chagunda
Director, Centre for Tropical Livestock Genetics and Health (CTLGH) and Chair of Tropical Livestock Genetics, University of Edinburgh.
Title: Artificial Intelligence at the Frontier of Biodiversity Genomics and Bioinformatics across East and Central Africa.
Theme 1 (Day 1):
Artificial Intelligence at the Frontier of Biodiversity Genomics and Bioinformatics across East and Central Africa
Theme 2 (Day 2):
Powering African DSI infrastructures through deeper policy discourse
(1st African Congress on Digital Sequence Information, Infrastructure Development and Policy – East and Central Africa 2026)
